A new high-tech Hospice House, operated by Cornerstone Hospice, will open its doors next week following a ribbon-cutting event on Tuesday, Aug. 27 at 9 a.m.

A new state-of-the-art Hospice House in The Villages is almost ready to open its doors.

The house, which features 12 private suites, will be operated by Cornerstone Hospice and will feature high-tech amenities in a home-like setting for people who are recommended to the facility for end-of-life care.

Most hospice patients are cared for in their homes, but the new hospice house is an option for many who may not have the support they would need to remain in their home.

A ribbon-cutting will take place at the new house, located next to the Sumter County Annex on County Road 466, on Tuesday, Aug. 27 at 9 a.m. Hospice representatives, donors, volunteers and area dignitaries are expected to attend the event. The public is invited to stop by throughout the day to take a tour of the new facility, which was built adjacent to an older hospice house that soon will undergo renovations.

Cornerstone Hospice is a community-owned provider of end-of-life care in Central Florida. The organization serves more than 7,000 people in Lake, Sumter, Orange, Osceola, Polk, Hardee and Highlands counties each year.
