A driver caught speeding near the Village of La Zamora gate will have to answer in court after he was found to be in possession of marijuana.
Dylan Christian Young, 22, of Oxford, had been driving a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox at about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday on County Road 466 at Chula Vista Avenue when he was caught on radar traveling at 60 miles per hour in a 45 mph zone, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. During a traffic stop, the officer spotted a container with a smiley mushroom face sitting on a cupholder of the vehicle’s center console. The officer asked what was in the container.
Young held it up and showed it the officer and responded, “Weed.” The 2.4 grams of marijuana was collected as evidence.
Young was issued a notice to appear at 8 a.m. Sept. 11 in Lake County Court. He was issued a warning for speeding.
