Hundreds of participants are expected to participate in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Sumter County.

The event, which is being held at South Sumter High School (706 N Main St. in Bushnell), kicks off at noon on Saturday, Nov. 2. The Luminaria Ceremony will be held at 9 p.m. Those wishing to attend the Survivors Dinner can register at www.relayforlife.org.

The Relay for Life movement inspires the community to celebrate people who have been touched by cancer, remember loved ones lost and take action for life-saving change. Funds raised help the American Cancer Society attack cancer in dozens of ways, from developing breakthrough therapies and innovative research to building supportive communities that come together to help those affected by cancer with access to treatment.

The American Cancer Society provides empowering resources to deploying activists to raise awareness and develop game-changing approaches to address the cancer burden for all people – with the ultimate goal of achieving a world without the disease.
