Flames destroy outbuilding and SUV in Fruitland Park subdivision

A fast-moving fire destroyed an outbuilding behind a home in Fruitland Park on Thursday afternoon.

Flames destroyed an outbuilding and an older SUV behind a Fruitland Park home in Linda-Glen Estates on Thursday afternoon.

The blaze destroyed a large steel pole-barn-style structure located on Timpertop Lane and an older SUV that was parked in front of it. Firefighters controlled the blaze shortly after arriving and were pulling the corrugated metal sides off the building and extinguishing hot spots around 2:30 p.m.

The building was located behind a home on Linda Glen Avenue, off Spring Lake Road, in Linda-Glen Estates. Firefighters from Lake County Fire Rescue, The Villages Public Safety Department and Fruitland Park Fire Rescue battled the blaze, which remained under investigation.
