Leesburg man found dead in bullet-riddled vehicle outside convenience store

An 18-year-old man was shot and killed outside a Leesburg convenience store late Monday afternoon.

Leesburg Police officers responded to the Leesburg Supermarket, at 900 County Road 468, shortly after 5 p.m. after receiving a call about a shooting. They found an 18-year-old man dead inside a car parked outside the convenience store.

Leesburg Police officers were called to the Leesburg Supermarket, at 900 County Road 468, shortly after 5 p.m. in reference to a shooting. When they arrived, they found the man dead inside a red Ford Mustang that was parked directly in front of the store, a police report states.

Police say it was evident multiple gunshots had been fired into the vehicle from outside, striking the man at least one time in the head. Additional officers also responded to the scene, including Leesburg detectives and crime scene technicians from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

Police believe a gray four-door sedan may have been involved in the incident and two black males were seen near the Mustang at the time of the shooting. No other description of the vehicle or the men was available Monday night, the report says.

The shooting death remains under investigation. The man’s name was being withheld Monday night pending notification of next kin.
