The Culver’s restaurant in The Villages took on a distinct Wisconsin flavor Wednesday afternoon during a visit from its founder.
The popular restaurant, which opened in 2018 at Southern Trace Plaza, was visited by Craig Culver and his daughter, Brittany Culver.
Culver, worked for a local McDonald’s right out of college in 1973. After selling their restaurants and quitting their jobs, Craig and his wife Lea were among family members who opened the first Culver’s Frozen Custard and ButterBurgers on July 18, 1984 in Sauk City, Wis.
Craig Culver led the company from its inception until 2015.
When Culver’s opened in The Villages, it was an immediate hit with Midwesterners, already familiar with the growing chain of restaurants.
Craig Culver’s visit attracted several Villagers with Wisconsin roots.
Barb Erickson hails from the Badger State and counts herself among the fans of Culver’s here in Florida’s Friendliest Hometown.
She was among those thrilled to meet a founder of the restaurant chain.
Culver’s current franchising strategy is one of contiguous expansion at a pace of about 40 new stores per year.
