Villager Marina Woolcock has been elected as the new president of the Florida Federation of Republican Women.
Woolcock, who also serves as president of Republican Federated Women of The Villages, is looking forward to taking the helm of the statewide organization, which represents more than 2,000 women and close to 50 clubs.
“I hope to achieve the same kind of winning attitude we have here in The Villages,” she said.
The Florida organization is affiliated with the National Federation of Republican Women, which recently adopted the slogan, “We empower women from all backgrounds in the political process and provide a forum for women to serve as leaders in the political, government and civic arenas.”
It’s a slogan that Woolcock said she takes quite seriously.
“As the new president of the Florida Federation, I plan to follow that mission statement,” she said recently.
Woolcock joins a whole group of newly elected officers who stand ready to serve in statewide organization. That group also includes: First Vice President Michele Merrell, Second Vice President Maricel Cobitz, Third Vice President Diane Eckland Van Parys, Treasurer Lynn Stafford, Secretary Meg Merritt, District Executive Barbara Price and At-Large Member April Schiff.
Woolcock recently attended the National Federation of Republican Women convention in Indianapolis. As president of the organization in The Villages, she served as a delegate at the convention, where women from across the country came together to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the 19th Amendment and to prepare to secure grassroots victories in upcoming elections.
