Summerfield bowler claims Senior Shootout victory at Fiesta Bowl

The second event of the Senior Shoot Out season at Fiesta Bowl brought in 61 bowlers.

Fifteen of those keglers were Super Seniors and seven made the natural cut of 609, so per the rules, Super Senior Ed Fenstermacher was invited to continue.

Super Senior High Qualifier John Pullen, of Summerfield, rolled the ball well all day, and in the final round game he eked out the title with a spare/strike in the 10th for 227.

Steve Ferraro, of The Villages, had a chance to best Pullen after getting the early lead but they were tied in the seventh, eighth and ninth frames. Ferraro needed a double in the 10th for the win. An unfortunate 5-count Greek Church halted his charge. Needing only the spare for the tie, Ferraro made a gallant effort but posted 223 for second place. George Gomez, of Orlando, had trouble striking on the final round pair but finished with a four-bagger and 193 for third place.

Pullen took home the winner’s share of $275, a Champion’s shirt courtesy of Gotta Get Your Name On Shirts & Embroidery and a paid entry into the November Senior Shoot Out. He automatically is eligible for the Senior Shoot Out Championship in August 2020.

Ferraro took home $170 and Gomez won $125. The complete results from the October Senior Shoot Out can be seen at www.thevillagesbowling.com. The next event will be Saturday, Nov. 16 at 11 a.m. at Fiesta Bowl.
