Two doctors were forced to relocate after an SUV crashed into their office in The Villages.
The driver of the SUV accidentally hit the gas pedal instead of the brake at about 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, prompting the vehicle to crash through the front door of Lakeview Healthcare System at the Laurel Manor Professional Plaza. The Villages Public Safety Department arrived on the scene and treated the injured, including the driver and patients who had been in the waiting room.
The front door of the medical office was boarded up as a result of the crash.
A note on the door Wednesday indicated Dr. Sara Gitte and Dr. Tasneem Cheema were seeing patients at an office at 8640 E. County Road 466. Patients in need of lab work were being directed to offices at Lake Sumter Landing and Baylee Plaza in Summerfield.
