The Florida Highway Patrol has narrowed its search for one of two vehicles involved in a crash that claimed the life of a passenger on a Villager’s motorcycle.
The accident occurred at about 12:15 a.m. Nov. 2 when 60-year-old Wendy Allyn Roberts and her 64-year-old Summerfield passenger were on a 1997 Honda VT600 traveling west on County Road 42 in the area of SE 102nd Court Road. Roberts’ motorcycle was hit from behind and both she and her passenger were thrown to the ground. The passenger was then run over by another vehicle and both vehicles fled the scene, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
Roberts suffered minor injuries. She was wearing a helmet but her passenger was not, the report indicated. Her passenger has yet to be identified, pending notification of next of kin.
The FHP on Friday announced that one of the suspect vehicles has been determined to be a 2001-2004 Toyota Sequoia SUV or a 2004-2005 Toyota Tundra pickup truck. Although the factory color is called Desert Sand, the vehicle may have a silver, grey or pewter colored appearance. It should be missing a left fender flair and left turn signal lens. The vehicle may also have some black “transfer paint” on it.
The second vehicle being sought is believed to be a 1998-2000 Toyota Corolla.
