A shoplifting suspect was arrested with drugs at Wal-Mart at Buffalo Ridge Ridge Plaza in The Villages.
Christopher Caggiano, 35, of Wildwood, entered the store Thursday night, where he selected a pair of Survivor boots and cut the tags off, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. He put on the new boots and placed his old boots into the box.
While still in the shoe department, he cut open a packet of knives and placed them in his pocket.
He went to the men’s department, where he put on a black hoodie and removed the tags. He then went to the bathroom in the front of the store, where he spent a period of time before leaving the store without paying for the items.
After he was taken into custody by police, a Buprenorphine and Naloxone sublingual film 8mg/2mg was found in his wallet. Caggiano said he had purchased it on the street.
He was arrested on charges of theft and possession of a controlled substance. He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $3,000 bond.
