Michigan woman arrested after theft of merchandise at store in The Villages

A Michigan woman was arrested after the alleged theft of merchandise from a store in The Villages.

Dawn Hildebrant, 41, of Gladwin, Mich., was arrested Thursday afternoon at the Belk store at La Plaza Grande after attempting to steal Estee Lauder perfume, bracelets and a black sweater, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. She went into a fitting room where she concealed the items and left the store without paying for them. The merchandise had a total value of $154.60.

Hildebrant, who was born in New Jersey, admitted to police she was in possession of two pipes used for smoking methamphetamine.

Hildebrant was arrested on charges of theft and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was taken into custody and booked at the Lake County Jail.
