Frankie Brin Financial takes home second in Sanford Presidents Day softball tourney

The Frankie Brin Financial 74’s Softball Team took home some hardware from this past weekend’s Presidents Day Softball Tournament at the Boombah Softball Complex in Sanford.

The team finished second in its bracket with three wins and one loss. It started off the two-day tournament on Saturday by defeating the Woodlawn Hitting Club, 18-6, and Senior Moments, 20-5.

In the first game on Sunday, Frankie Brin defeated Woodlawn Hitting Club, 21-12. But in the championship game, Florida Venom from Port Charlotte defeated Frankie Brin, 19-14. Florida Venom finished the tournament with a 4-0 record and the championship.

The leading hitters for Frankie Brin were Al Barrett .917 (2HR, 9RBIs), Roger Scott .857, Linwood Manning .846, Bob Falzone .818, Bob Juhaszr .778 (2HR) and Dave Sellars .769. The other Frankie Brin team members were Cal Allison, Rod Severson, Greg Foster, Bob Buchanan, Tom McGann, Bill Dunkley, Carl McWilliams and Dick Kanyan.
