To the Editor:
I would like to extend a big “Thank You” to the members of the Villages Astronomy Club who facilitated the Starry, Starry Night event on Friday, Feb. 28.
Not only was the afternoon solar viewing and planetary walk very informative and well presented, the evening star gazing event was beyond extraordinarily wonderful (albeit very cold!). Quite a few members not only brought and set up their amazing telescopes for us ordinary, curious people to view what they are able to see at will (given that most of us do not own such expensive scopes!), they were most patient in offering information about what star/planet/moon we were viewing. Their time, energy and efforts were greatly appreciated by this non-scope owning but curious Villager! Only here in The Villages would an event like this be offered by such knowledgeable and generous people!
