A pair with a long history of arrests were jailed after an alleged attack when they were paying an unwelcome visit to a home in The Villages.

Sumter County sheriff’s deputies were called at about 10 a.m. Monday to a home on Arbella Loop in the Village of Amelia where a woman said she was attacked by 35-year-old Jessica Loren Hall and 37-year-old Alan Dean Simmons, both residents of The Villages. A brawl broke out after Hall and Simmons were spotted in the garage of the home, where they were not wanted, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

Both were arrested on charges of battery and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center.

Simmons in 2018 had been sentenced to prison time after an arrest in the theft of a golf cart. While he was free on bond in the case, he was arrested after he was caught selling drugs at a notoriously troubled home in the Village of Palo Alto and at Tierra Del Sol Bar & Grill.

After one arrest at Wal-Mart at Buffalo Ridge Plaza in The Villages, Hall admitted she had been stealing from the store “almost on a daily basis” to support her drug habit.
