Margaret Squire

Margaret Bregenzer Squire died in her home in The Villages on August 2, 2020 surrounded by her husband of 60 plus years and several of their children. She was born and raised in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania but lived in thirteen States to include Hawaii, as well as Germany and Haiti. She and her husband moved to The Villages in 2006 from Tennessee.

She is survived by her husband, The Reverend Canon Willard S. Squire, Jr., her children, Mary Squire Burgett (Chuck), Beth Anne Geiger (Karl), Willard S. Squire, III (Dawn), Phyllis Moore Squire and Sandra Lynn Squire. Also, her brother Norbert Lee Bregenzer, seventeen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, M. Michael Squire; grandson, Karl Wilhelm Geiger; and daughter-in-law, Diane Alawas Squire, and six siblings.

She attended East Tennessee State University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Studio Art in 1990. In 1991, she opened an Art Studio in Knoxville, Tennessee. In 1993 she and her husband moved to Haiti as Volunteers for Mission from the Episcopal Church, USA. While there (three years), she taught visual arts to children and Holy Trinity Elementary School, and as the Episcopal High School, College St. Pierre, in Port-au-Prince. Some years later, she and her husband returned to Haiti for a year to oversee the operation of St. Vincent’s Center for Handicapped Children.

In retirement in Florida, she remained active in her community, and was an avid golfer. As a member of St. George Episcopal Church, she was a member of the Women’s Guild and The Daughters of the King. She was an associate of the Sisters of St. Mary.

Margaret enthusiastically combined her skills and talents as an artist and teacher with her love for the Lord and willingness to serve God wherever that took her. Yet, her life truly was centered around her love of her husband, children, and grandchildren, and their families.

Because of the current pandemic, there are no immediate plans for a memorial service. There will be a committal service at the National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida at a later date.
