Lillian Matilda Ollila

Lillian Ollila

Lillian Matilda Ollila (nee Miettinen) born 1-26-27 in Painesdale, MI to John & Ida Miettinen passed away peacefully at Hospice of Cincinnati on August 3, 2020. She was a beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and Friend.

Lillian was baptized Feb. 13, 1927 and graduated from Chassel High School May 25, 1944. Her 7 siblings preceded her in death as did her husband, Neil and her oldest son, Doug. She married the love of her life, Neil Ollila, on Jan. 3, 1953 and had 3 children: Neil “Douglas”, Nancy Ollila-Glenn (husband Michael) and Curt (wife Tracy). She had 7 grandchildren (Stacy, Nikki, Jess, Christopher, Miles, Rachyl & Curt James, Jr.) and 6 great grandchildren (Alec, Isabella, Lilyanna, Ollila, Arlo & Charlotte) whom she cherished.

Lillian’s parents emigrated from Finland to the upper peninsula of Michigan. She grew up in Chassel, Michigan, then spent about 40 years in the suburbs of Detroit, retired with her husband to the sunny Villages of Florida – where she lived until 2016. She was known for her energy, love of family and enjoyed knitting, volunteering at the Lutheran church women’s group, ceramics, bowling and camping. Before genealogy became popular, she was an extraordinary family historian, whose family tree books will be treasured by generations to come. Lil turned to golfing at the age of 60 and celebrated three hole-in-one’s during her 80’s!

Lillian/mom/grandma will be forever missed, we entrust her to our creator, may she rest in the arms of Jesus.

Philippians 3:20-21

But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.

Memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to Hospice of Cincinnati Blue Ash, 4310 Cooper Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45242 or Hope Lutheran Church, 250 Avenida Los Angelos, The Villages, FL 32162.
