To the Editor:

The Liberals, Progressives and RINOs are giddy with their success in the 2020 elections.  But they should be forewarned: be careful for what you wish for.
It was Lord Acton who penned the familiar maxim, “Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely.”
Truer words were never spoken. The quest for power and all it entails is a basic element of human nature, so it follows that Lord Acton’s words are a given. In the 1790’s the different viewpoints of the populace was the genesis that led to the two-party system. Looking back over our history it is evident that the two-party system works for our country. It has prevented one party from gaining the wherewithal to impose their will on the American people, ad infinitum. While the founders did not foresee the two-party system they understood the workings of human nature and set up the government in three parts, The Executive, The Legislative and The Judicial. In doing so their action precluded one arm of the government becoming so strong that it could control all three arms, and prevented America from becoming a monarchy rather than a republic.
Now, we find ourselves at a perilous time. If the Democrats gain control of the Senate there is nothing to prevent them from making changes that could lead to a de-facto Monarchy. Here is how. They could pack the Supreme Court by merely having Biden nominate as many new judges to the SCOTUS as he wished.  Confirmation would only require a simple majority in the Senate. The Democrats have the propensity to attempt this as evidenced by F.D.R.’s efforts to do it when he was President. They could do away with the Electoral College and replace it with a popular vote system. Considering the majority of Americans in California and New York are liberals, it is doubtful that a Republican would ever be elected to the Presidency again. A simple vote could give Statehood to both Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico which would mean four more senators which would surely be Democrats. Biden has stated he will establish “a path to citizenship” for all illegal aliens now in the country.  He has also stated he would provide free medical care for illegals, and some Democrats have opined that we should also be sending them monthly stipends.  Considering that Biden will suspend Trump’s actions vis a vis illegal entry it follows that people from all over the world would see this as an invitation to come here.  Why not when you would receive free medical care, shelter and food?  If I were a poor citizen of, say, Guatemala and was afflicted by a disease that could be cured or at least, treated better here would I not make my way here.  Off course I would, and I don’t blame anyone else for wanting to come here.  But at what price will an open border and an open checkbook cost this country?  The answer is we won’t be a sovereign country for long, rather we will be a third world country.
One does not have to think hard about it to conjure up many more things the Democrats could attain without the checks and balances provided by a two-party system.  Think as badly as you wish about Republicans, but if they never control at least one arm of the government we have a one-party system which, in effect, could be construed as a monarchy. So, be careful what you wish for, no matter what your political persuasion.
