A Rhode Island man was arrested with stolen medication at the Water Oak 55+ community in Lady Lake.

Lake EMS and Lake County Fire Rescue responded to a call for medical assistance at about 5 p.m. Saturday at the gated community on U.S. Hwy. 27/441 where they found 43-year-old Keith Bernard of Warwick, R.I. at a home in the 500 block of Spruce Drive, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department.

EMS personnel asked what medication Bernard was taking and a relative pointed to Bernard’s suitcase which held “pharmaceutical medication bottles,” including Lidocaine, Pitocon, Ocytogin and Terbutaline.

Bernard admitted he had stolen the medications from a hospital in Tennessee.

He was arrested on four counts of possession of pharmaceutical medications without a prescription. He was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting $2,000 bond.
