Sumter sheriff’s deputies nab Pennsylvania man in stolen tow truck

Sumter County sheriff’s deputies apprehended a Pennsylvania man in a stolen tow truck.

Deputies were assisting the Tampa Police Department when they located 33-year-old Kurtis Michael Cunningham of Lock Haven, Pa. in the stolen tow truck at about noon Thursday in Lake Panasoffkee. The keys were in the ignition and the engine was still running. The tow truck had been reported stolen on Wednesday.

During a pat down, a pipe was found in Cunningham’s pocket. Residue on the pipe tested positive for methamphetamine.

Cunningham was arrested on charges of grand theft of a motor vehicle and possession of drug equipment. He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $11,000 bond.
