I’ve heard from many constituents about their concerns over the various proposed tax increases in Democrats’ $3.5 trillion dollar “reconciliation” bill.
The non-partisan Joint Committee on Taxation (JCT) and left-leaning Tax Policy Center agree that Biden’s tax plan will raise taxes on 75 percent of the middle-class. If the president follows through with these proposed taxes, he will be breaking his pledge not to raise taxes on low-and-middle-income families.
The president recently parroted a claim made by many Democrats that “All of [GOP Tax Cuts] went to folks at the top and corporations that pay no taxes.” Even one of their top defenders – The Washington Post fact checkers – said this claim is “simply wrong” and “clearly false” and gave it “4 Pinocchios.” Another oft-quoted myth that “83 percent of Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) tax cuts went to top 1 percent” was also debunked by the Washington Post! Their analysis found the claim to be a “zombie claim” and “galling.” Even Politifact agreed, calling it “misleading.”
This is one of many reasons I am opposed to this legislation, which amounts to pushing big government socialism on hardworking Americans.
