Man who failed to pay fines jailed after traffic stop at mini-mart in Wildwood

A man whose driver’s license was suspended due to his failure to pay traffic fines was arrested after a traffic stop at a mini-mart in Wildwood.

Christopher Phazon Thompson, 29, was driving a silver Chevy Equinox at 6:15 p.m. Thursday when he failed to come to a complete stop before exiting Kamal’s Mini-Mart at Kilgore Street, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department.

During a traffic stop, Thompson said he did not have his license with him. He provided his name and date of birth and a check revealed Thompson’s license was suspended in September due to failure to pay traffic fines.

He was arrested on a charge of driving while license suspended. He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $500 bond.
