Two people were arrested after a K-9 alerted on a vehicle at a restaurant in The Villages.
Anthony Frederick Schlotter Garner, 38, of Wildwood, at 5:42 p.m. Monday was driving a GMC Sierra pickup traveling south on County Road 515 approaching Warm Springs Avenue when a deputy noticed he was not wearing a seatbelt, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. He pulled into the parking lot of the Fenney Grill.
The deputy recognized Schlotter Garner from previous law enforcement encounters and confirmed that he has been classified as a habitual traffic offender with a suspended license.
A K-9 unit was summoned to the restaurant parking lot and the dog alerted on the vehicle. A small scale with the residue of methamphetamine was found on the driver’s side floorboard of the truck.
A passenger, 32-year-old Courtney Lynne Harnage of Leesburg, initially tried to lie about her identity. She was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
They were both taken into custody and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. A hold by Lake County was put on the custody of Harnage, who was arrested in 2018 at a known drug house in Lady Lake.
