I hope you have not had to watch a loved one die from cancer or have cancer. Or perhaps you fear you may get cancer.

The recent federal budget has sparked widespread concern among citizens and researchers alike due to its proposed cuts targeting crucial health programs.

Under Trump’s budget cuts, cancer research in the US has been drastically cut. Five years ago, the medical community believed cancer would soon be beaten and many strides had been made. However, most of the funding for this cutting-edge research has been cut.

The administration’s fiscal year 2026 budget will have a 40% reduction in National Institute of Health (NIH) funding, much of which includes cancer research. The National Cancer Institute (NCI), a key agency for cancer research, faces approximately $900 million less in funding.

Cancer screening and prevention programs, are cut $34.5 million

University research programs and trials have been aborted.

All this is done so billionaires, with mega yachts and planes, can receive tax cuts. And too, this government will fund a $45 million military parade on Trump’s birthday and has funded solid gold cherubs on the wall of the Oval Office.

Hope you never have to face cancer.
