A serial shoplifter was nabbed with more than $500 in stolen merchandise at Walmart at Buffalo Ridge Plaza in The Villages.
Uniqua Evans, 31, of Wildwood, entered the store Saturday evening and loaded her cart with soda, chicken and frozen food while in the grocery section, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. She then headed for the home goods department and selected a Ninja blender. She was confronted by store personnel when attempted to leave the store with merchandise valued $518.21, for which she had not paid. She claimed she had a receipt on her phone, but had deleted the app. She fled, leaving behind the merchandise.

Evans got into a silver 2014 Ford utility vehicle, which was spotted at the nearby Arby’s restaurant. She was found to be in possession of bath salts.
Evans has a history of arrests for theft, including a 2020 arrest at the same Walmart and she was tracked down earlier this year after a $430 theft at a local Dollar General.
She was arrested on a felony charge of theft and a misdemeanor drug charge. She was booked without bond at the Sumter County Detention Center.
