A Summerfield man was arrested for assault after his alleged threatening behavior toward his future ex-wife’s boyfriend.
A deputy responded to a physical disturbance at a home on SE 141st Place, Summerfield, at 10:10 p.m. Wednesday, according to an arrest report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. Upon arrival, he met the male victim and 52-year-old Kevin John Bellach.
Due to Bellach being outside, loud and upset that he was pepper-sprayed, he was interviewed inside the residence. He claimed the victim was in his bathroom near the dining room area, and he told the victim to leave. The victim then punched him in the face and pepper-sprayed him, the report said.
The deputy next spoke to the victim who had cellphone footage of the incident. He stated his girlfriend, who was in a divorce situation with Bellach and the property owner, invited him there to help get her belongings. He then showed footage of the incident, the report said.
In the video, the victim walked out of the bathroom with the phone in his left hand. Bellach could be heard asking why he was in the house and saying he was going to call the cops. He also said, “I am going to pun…” while a loud, “No, no, no,” from a woman was in the background, the report said.
The camera shook and pointed at the girlfriend standing between Bellach and the victim along with a female roommate. The girlfriend put her back toward Bellach to keep him from walking forward. Bellach stated, “You punched me in the face,” while trying to approach the victim, the report said.
The deputy asked the victim if he punched Bellach, and he stated he pushed him in the face with the palm of his right hand. He did so because Bellach was coming at him in an aggressive manner, with his chest pushed out and balled fists. He feared Bellach was going to hit him, the report said.
The video continued with Bellach and the victim making claims toward each other. While Bellach yelled at the victim, he kept coming closer. The roommate held Bellach’s left arm to keep him from approaching, the report said.
The roommate helped de-escalate the situation and was able to move Bellach and the victim around to where the victim was closer to the front door. Bellach was seen walking into a bedroom near where the victim came out of the bathroom. Bellach then walked out and toward the victim at a fast pace, the report said.
The video did not capture it, but the victim’s description of Bellach’s posture scared him. So, he pepper-sprayed Bellach and left the residence, the report said.
A witness further advised that Bellach followed the victim out of the residence. He was then pepper-sprayed and punched again. The victim stated he was not hit during the altercations, and his punches were in self-defense, the report said.
There was no visual bruising on Bellach on his face or neck, only red from the pepper spray. There was a light bruise on his left rib where he claimed the victim punched him, the report said.
Bellach was determined to be the primary aggressor and arrested on charge of simple assault (threat to do violence). He was transported to Marion County Jail and released on his own recognizance.
The New York native was also arrested in Sept. 2024 after his then wife’s desperate call to 911.
