U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement placed a hold on a Brooksville woman who was arrested for driving without a license in Sumter County.

A deputy saw the driver of a white Hyundai, later identified as 22-year-old Nolvia Leticia Rodriguez-Gonzolaz, approaching the back of his patrol vehicle around 5:30 a.m. Sunday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. The vehicle began to pass him at 65 miles per hour in a 55-mph zone on County Road 475 in Bushnell.

As the vehicle passed the deputy, it merged into the southbound lane too soon. He had to guide his vehicle to the shoulder to avoid a collision. He then stopped the vehicle near County Road 312 for careless driving, the report said.

Another deputy got to the scene moments later and concluded Rodriguez-Gonzolaz was not fluent in English. A male passenger advised that neither occupant had a driver’s license in any state. A check through law enforcement databases confirmed she did not have a valid license, the report said.

Rodriguez-Gonzolaz was arrested on charge with operate motor vehicle without valid license and issued a written warning for careless driving. She was transported to the Sumter County Detention Center where bond was set at $500 and ICE placed a hold on her.
