A Summerfield man was arrested for driving with a suspended license after being stopped on a motorcycle he just picked up from a tow yard.
A deputy spotted 37-year-old Derek David Jackson driving a white motorcycle southbound on 3800 S Pine Ave., Ocala, around 1:25 p.m. Tuesday, according to an arrest report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. He changed lanes without using a signal, wore no eye protection and had no visible tag.

Jackson was subsequently stopped and gave the deputy an ID card. He advised that the motorcycle was stolen around two years ago, and he had just picked it up from the tow yard, the report said.
A check of his driving status showed his license had been suspended for one year on July 20, 2022. He had another suspension on July 18, 2024, and an indefinite cancellation on Oct. 8, 2024, the report said.
Jackson was arrested on charges of driving while license suspended (third or subsequent violation) and operate motorcycle without license. He was transported to Marion County Jail and released after posting $3,500.
He was also arrested in July for driving with a license suspended for DUI, in April for trespassing at Walmart and in Dec. 2023 for THC oil found during a traffic stop.
