A Summerfield couple was arrested for violating injunctions and pretrial release conditions while preparing for a yard sale.

A deputy responded to a disturbance involving 52-year-old Victor Alan Westman and 50-year-old Suzanne Marie Westman at 8240 SE 132nd Ln., Summerfield, around 1:40 a.m. Thursday, according to an arrest report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

Upon arrival, he met with the victim who advised that Victor and Suzanne were inside a tent setting up for a yard sale, the report said. He heard Victor inside possibly breaking things, so he told him to get out. Victor instead took an aggressive stance and stated, “What are you going to do?”

Victor then threw a punch at the victim, hitting him in the face. A fight ensued wherein the victim was struck multiple times and bled profusely from his face. Victor ultimately left the scene with Suzanne, the report said.

The deputy later found Victor at 4200 SE 143rd Ln, Summerfield, where he was detained. He advised that he went over to the victim’s place to get Suzanne due to her falling asleep. The victim came up to him with an unknown item and hit his left arm, the report said.

The report noted he first stated he was hit on the front of his left shoulder, then the side of his arm and finally his back. However, he had no injuries other than a small scratch by his Adam’s apple.

Suzanne stated Victor came to the residence “irate” and was breaking things inside the tent. The victim came in with something in his hand, but she did not see what it was. Both he and Victor were “jumping around” and “flexing.” She was unsure who started the fight, but she had to pull Victor off the victim, the report said.

Additionally, Suzanne had an active injunction against Victor wherein he was not allowed to be at 8240 SE 132nd Ln., Summerfield. He was also not supposed to have contact with her, the report said.

At the same time, Suzanne violated pretrial conditions by being near Victor at his residence. She had been arrested on Aug. 18 for simple battery (domestic) on him, and she had been given special release conditions on Aug. 19 that included not having contact or being within 500ft of him, the report said.

A criminal history check revealed Victor had three prior battery convictions from Feb. 7, 2001, and Nov. 16, 2000, as well, the report said.

Victor subsequently was arrested on charges of battery (second or subsequent offense) and contempt of court (violate injunction of protection for domestic violence). He was transported to Marion County Jail to be held without bond.

He was also arrested in Sept. 2024 after his grandchild witnessed him attacking Suzanne.

Suzanne was arrested and charged with violate pretrial release condition for domestic violence. The Michigan native was taken to jail to be held without bond, too.
