A Wildwood teen will appear in court next week after allegedly trying to steal $513 in merchandise by way of a baby stroller at Target in The Villages.

An officer responded to Target at Rolling Acres Plaza to investigate a retail theft involving 19-year-old Alannah Marshall around 2:20 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, according to a case report from the Lady Lake Police Department.

Upon arrival, the officer met with the asset protection team leader who stated she saw Marshall concealing merchandise from the activewear section in her baby’s stroller. She was accompanied by her cousin, the report said.

The group continued to the infant department where Marshall picked up and stashed baby clothing and a baby bag. They then went to the intimates and shoes departments where they repeated this process with more items, including a pair of shoes placed at the bottom of the stroller. Marshall rolled the stroller past all points of sale and was confronted about the stolen merchandise, after which she followed asset protection into their office, the report said.

The officer met Marshall’s cousin inside the front of the store and took her to the office, as well. The pair had tried to take 31 items worth $513.17, with brands such as Carter’s Joy, AllInMotion, Jockey Gen, AND, Auden, HydndEEK, UniThread and Cloud Island, the report said.

Marshall was issued a misdemeanor summons for retail theft. She is due to appear in court on Nov. 3.
