To the Editor:

In the United States, so far this year, there have been 374 mass shootings in which four or more people were killed. That’s more than one per day. So far this year there have been 174 K-12 school shootings.

Charlie Kirk said, “I think it’s worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights.”

Charlie Kirk is one of those deaths that was worth it. He is a statistic not a hero. How many roads have we named for people caught up in shootings who acted bravely to save others?

Naming a street after Charlie Kirk is an insult to those living with the agonizing grief of losing a loved ones to gun violence.
