To the Editor:
I’d like to respectfully voice my concern about the proposed Walmart Market with 20 gas pumps planned for this area.
One of the most special things about our community right now is how peaceful it is. It’s quiet, naturally dark at night, and you can still see the stars. That kind of environment is becoming rare — and once it’s gone, it’s gone.
A development of this size would bring constant noise, bright lighting, heavy traffic, air pollution, and increased risk of crime-related activity such as loitering and vandalism. These changes would permanently alter the character and safety of the neighborhood.
Instead of adding more concrete, fuel pumps, and traffic, why not consider something that enhances the community?
Why not make this land a park or protected green space for animals and people?
A park would:
• Preserve the dark skies and natural beauty
• Protect local wildlife and habitats
• Reduce crime by discouraging late-night commercial activity
• Provide a safe, peaceful place for residents to walk, relax, and connect with nature
• Increase long-term property value without harming quality of life
Green spaces benefit everyone — families, seniors, wildlife, and future generations. They promote health, safety, and environmental responsibility instead of pollution and congestion.
This isn’t about resisting progress. It’s about choosing the right kind of progress — the kind that respects what already makes this place special.
I strongly encourage decision-makers to reconsider this development and explore alternatives that preserve peace, safety, and the natural environment.
Why ruin something beautiful when we can protect it?
Thank you for listening.
