A visitor to The Villages has been ordered to seek a mental health evaluation after creating a scene, leading to her arrest.

Anne Marie Zapadka, 59, of Box Elder, S.D., offered a plea of no contest this past month in Lake County Court to a charge of disorderly conduct. She was placed on probation for six months and ordered to seek a mental health evaluation.

Officers were called at about 3 p.m. Sept. 9 to the Holiday Inn Express on Avenida Central where Zapadka was in the lobby “yelling and screaming at employees” causing them to “fear for their safety,” according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. When officers arrived on the scene, hotel employees indicated that Zapadka was not a guest at the hotel. It appeared she had been drinking. She was “obviously intoxicated and smelled strongly of an alcoholic beverage.”

She was exhibiting “outlandish behavior and violent demeanor.” She refused to calm down.

An officer attempted to handcuff Zapadka, who stands 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 115 pounds, but she resisted the officer’s efforts. She grabbed onto a nearby maintenance golf cart and refused to be placed into a patrol car. After she was placed in the car and they arrived at the Lake County Jail, Zapadka “went limp” and “refused to walk.” The officer had to carry her into the intake area at the jail.

Zapadka did not return home after the incident. Instead she registered an address with the court at Sun Kissed Village RV Resort in Summerfield.

Zapadka had detailed on her social media her travels in the Sunshine State, including a golf cart ride through The Villages.
