A wife was in disbelief after finding her husband dead of an apparent suicide at their home in The Villages.

The wife of 60-year-old Richard Tedesco found him dead on Feb. 28 at their home on Amarillo Place in the Village of La Zamora, according to a report from the Lady Lake Police Department. Emergency personnel were summoned to the home shortly before 6 p.m. that day.

Tedesco’s wife was “distressed and in disbelief” after finding her husband in the closet of a bedroom. He was lying on the floor with a belt around his neck. She initially called her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, who also live in The Villages, and they soon arrived at the home.

The wife had gone out grocery shopping and when she returned home, she assumed he was in his room. She finished putting away the groceries and then went to check on him, thinking he was unusually quiet.

The body was turned over to the Medical Examiner’s Office.

The couple bought their home in the Village of La Zamora in late 2024. Neighbors said the couple kept a low profile.
