Two trees have won a a temporary reprieve after a builder delayed action on a request to cut them down. At least for now.

The two historic trees are located on a five-acre portion of the Highlands at Hammock Oaks at 1245 Anderson Lane located on the north side of Anderson Lane approximately one-quarter mile west of Rolling Acres Road in Lady Lake.

This tree was given a brief reprieve Monday when the builder of the Highlands of Hammock Oaks had a request pulled from the agenda of the Lady Lake Planning and Zoning Board

The five acres is on the opposite side of Rolling Acres Road, across from the massive Hammock Oaks development which will ultimately be filled with homes, townhomes, apartments and retail, including a new Walmart going up at the corner of County Road 466 and Cherry Lake Road. In 2024, the property was annexed into the Town of Lady Lake.

The Lady Lake Planning and Zoning Board had been scheduled to hear the request for the removal of the trees Monday night, however the item was removed from the agenda at the last minute, at the request of the builder. No official reason was given.
