A Villager has claimed that vandals have been dumping old furniture in her daughter’s driveway.

Sandra Finlayson, 89, who lives at Freedom Pointe at The Villages was called to a deed compliance hearing  Monday at the District Office at Brownwood.

The property that was the subject of the hearing is located at 971 Tarrson Blvd. on the Historic Side of The Villages.

A complaint was lodged Dec. 8 with Community Standards regarding old furniture and debris on the side of the home. Community Standards confirmed the presence of an old couch at the home. The couch was removed and the home was brought into compliance in January. Another complaint was lodged in February about a mattress in the driveway. Due to the second violation, the house is now considered a “re-occurring violation” and remains on Community Standards’ radar.

During Monday’s hearing before a special master, Finlayson said her 56-year-old daughter “needs help” and described her daughter’s physical ailments. Finlayson claimed vandals had dumped the furniture at the home, which Finlayson owns and allows her daughter to live in. She said she bought the home for her daughter.

If another violation occurs, Finlayson could be fined up to $500 per day.
