The Town of Lady Lake is eyeing some acreage on Rolling Acres Road.

Parks and Recreation Director Mike Burske on Monday night pitched the idea to the commission of purchasing roughly 20 acres for sale near the massive Hammock Oaks development, south of County Road 466.

The property is located next to the Tri-County Baptist Church. Burske said the land is priced at $75,000 per acre, meaning the price would be about $1.5 million. The purchase would be paid for using impact fees.

Keep in mind that land acquisition is one of the largest driving factors for why we have impact fees in place for parks and recreation,” Burske told the commissioners.

He said that he hopes the land could be used for a park. The park would be perfectly positioned to serve the thousands of new Lady Lake residents who will be living in the Hammock Oaks development.

The commission agreed to move forward and pursue the purchase.
