Therese Ann Standring, passed away in The Villages, FL surrounded by her beloved family on March 6th, 2026. She had just celebrated her 85th birthday.
Daughter of the late Ernest E. and V. Ruth (Conklin) Roberts, Therese was born in Pittsfield, MA on February 4th, 1941. A graduate of St Joseph’s High School, she graduated in 1959. A natural caretaker, she began nursing school. She then met the love of her life, Gordon Standring- they fell in love at first sight and eloped in Vermont on August 22, 1959. They started a family, and settled down in Lee, MA, eventually moving to and building a close knit community in Lenox Dale, MA.
While raising her four children, she began direct sales with Tupperware, moved to Beeline, and finally found her passion working with House of Lloyd selling Christmas Around the World, where she helped her friends and clients host events that almost rivaled her legendary Christmas Eve parties. Her well earned success sent her on many trips, where she was able to see Greece, Hawaii, Mexico, England, Switzerland, and enjoyed cruises to Alaska and beyond. As a resident of the Villages for 25 years, she enjoyed meeting new people as a lobby host.
Therese is survived by her devoted husband of 66 years, Gordon Standring; her son Keith Standring (Deb), her daughter Kathy Timpane (Chris), her daughter Beth Archey, and her son Jeffrey Standring (Victoria), her sister-in-law Carol Roberts, all of Berkshire county; her grandchildren Jodi Standring, Jordan Archey (Andrew), and Luke Archey (Amber), granddaughter Amanda Gaudette (Josh), and many nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren.
Therese adored camping, trips to the beach, and beating everyone at games such as Scrabble and Yahtzee while still cheering on her competitors. She loved to laugh and her laughter was contagious; she also loved to sing and had dance moves to match. She was a lifelong active member of her church, St Vincent de Paul in both Lenox Dale, MA and Wildwood, FL, where she was a proud Extraordinary Minister of the Holy Communion.
She is predeceased by her parents, Ernest and Ruth, her brother Edward Roberts, and her grandson Jacob Archey.
A mass will be held March 27, at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Vincent de Paul in Wildwood, FL and is available to be live streamed. Her memory will be celebrated in Massachusetts at a later date.
