A Wildwood man was arrested with illicit pills after police investigated reports of shots fired near Oxford Oaks.
Officers responded to the area of County Road 209 and Oxford Oaks Lane around 8:25 p.m. Tuesday, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. Dispatch described the suspect vehicle as a beat-up white car with a dent in the side, which was later found to be driven by 21-year-old Hunter Blake Maier.

While en route, the officers spotted a white Toyota Camry with damage on the passenger side at the intersection of West Clarke Street and U.S. 301. Based on the timeline and where the car was spotted, police believed they had the right vehicle. The officers subsequently stopped the car in the parking lot of 7-Eleven, located at 4076 County Road 462, the report said.
Maier followed all commands to get out with his hands up, after which he was handcuffed. The officers got his permission to search the vehicle for firearms and did not find any. However, they did locate a loose 9mm Full Metal Jacket round on the driver’s seat and a cellophane baggie with eight pills in the center console, the report said.
Additionally, a check of Maier’s criminal history revealed he is currently on felony probation for burglarizing an unoccupied building. He was initially placed on probation in Sumter County on Jan. 22, and it will not expire until Jan. 21, 2029. He also had a previous conviction of felony possession of marijuana (over 20 grams but less than 25 pounds) from Oct. 22, 2024, by the Fruitland Park Police Department, the report said.
Maier then admitted that the pills belonged to him, and they were unprescribed Percocet. He did not know there was ammunition in the vehicle, and he claimed it did not belong to him. He admitted he is a convicted felon and knew he was not allowed to have such things, the report said.
He was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and weapon or ammo by a convicted felon, as well as violating his probation. He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center to be held without bond.
Maier was also arrested in May 2024 after his mother directed police to his bedroom.
