The Evening Rotarians have presented a Literacy Grant check for $950 to East Marion Elementary for book replacements.

Last year, new club members started the idea of offering a literacy grant. East Marion Elementary was the first recipient and used the funds to purchase 50 library-bound titles from The Florida Sunshine Books list required by the state of Florida to be in the school library.

Media Center Director Angela Brahim will use the funds to buy replacements for books that are overused and worn out, paper bags, and books that are not library-bound. The club also gave a grant to the Harbour View Elementary School media center.

Sarah Nelson was excited to share how wonderful it was to add over 50 library-bound titles to the library that serves over 800 eager readers. 

“That can be a lot of wear and tear on our books!” said Nelson. “We are thrilled to have the Evening Rotarians helping us in this way.”
