Sumter County is advising motorists that County Road 462 will be closed to through traffic and limited to local traffic only due to a temporary railroad crossing closure on County Road 462 between U.S. 301 and County Road 127 near the Duke Energy Plant in Wildwood.
CSX Transportation has scheduled the crossing closure to allow for routine railroad maintenance and repairs to improve the rough crossing surface.
The closure will take place between 7 and 11 a.m. Monday, April 20. The roadway will reopen by 5 p.m. Thursday, April 23.
During the closure, Sumter County Public Works will coordinate and maintain the approved detour route, with traffic control devices and detour signage placed to safely direct motorists around the work zone.
Motorists are encouraged to:
• Plan additional travel time
• Follow posted detour signage – utilizing Cleveland Avenue and US 301 as a detour route
• Use caution when traveling near the closure area
• Consider alternate routes when possible
