U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has placed a hold on a homeless man from Mexico who was driving without a license.

A deputy observed 23-year-old Ivan Israel Hernandez Hernandez driving a green Honda Civic westbound at the intersection of State Road 44 and County Road 243 in Wildwood around 6:30 a.m. Monday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

A check of the tag revealed the registered owner did not have a driver’s license or an ID card, leading to a traffic stop on State Road 44. Hernandez Hernandez confirmed that he did not have a license before handing over his Mexico ID. He stated he is not a United States citizen and had never gotten a license in the country, the report said.

Hernandez Hernandez was subsequently arrested on charge of operate motor vehicle without valid license. The native of Mexico was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center, where ICE put a detainer on his custody.
