U.S. Rep. Randy Fine pulled no punches during a Wednesday afternoon tele-town hall, telling constituents that eliminating “woke” school curricula and deporting illegal aliens are paramount to saving the country and reviving the economy.

Fine, whose district includes the Historic Side of The Villages, the Marion County section of The Villages, and Stonecrest, leaned heavily into the conservative platforms that propelled him to Washington D.C. The Congressman won a special election last year largely thanks to the endorsement of President Donald Trump. Fine also appeared at Trump’s May 1 rally in The Villages.
During Wednesday’s call, which lasted less than an hour, Fine made his priorities clear. Asked by the first caller to name the biggest problem facing the country today, Fine immediately pointed to the classroom. He argued that purging “woke” curricula is essential, warning that young people are being indoctrinated with negative ideas about America. He also advocated for targeting organizations like the Southern Poverty Law Center, claiming the group distributes money to racists.
Transitioning to the economy, Fine told Floridians frustrated by the affordability crisis that deporting aliens would go a long way toward solving their families’ financial woes. He asserted that several of President Joe Biden’s social programs designed to feed impoverished children have resulted in massive fraud in blue states like Minnesota, alleging that immigrants were largely responsible for the crimes.
The financial burden of unauthorized immigration remained a recurring theme. Fine claimed that the tens of thousands of illegal alien children brought into the U.S. cost American taxpayers $10,000 to $11,000 per child in education expenses for students “who should not be here.” Furthermore, he blamed illegal aliens for crowding local emergency rooms, and leaving citizens facing long wait times for medical treatment.
On election integrity, a caller asked about the SAVE Act (Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act), which would fundamentally change how Americans register and verify their identity for federal elections to ensure only U.S. citizens cast ballots. Fine doubled down, declaring he has pledged to block any legislation coming from the Senate to the House until the SAVE Act is passed. He noted he has already voted against two potentially beneficial bills to uphold this hardline pledge.
Addressing other constituent concerns, Fine clarified that property taxes are managed at the state level and fall outside congressional jurisdiction. Regarding the ongoing conflict involving Iran, the congressman urged unity, stating, “We must stand behind President Trump to force Iran to quit the war.”
Ohio Congressman Jim Jordan joined Fine for a portion of the town hall. The two lawmakers focused their shared time on the mounting costs associated with unauthorized immigration, with Jordan praising Fine for his steadfast support of the House conservatives’ Freedom Caucus agenda.
