A motorcyclist dressed in a head-turning pink suit was arrested near the entrance to Spanish Springs after police caught him speeding on an unregistered trike.
John Benz, 58, was pulled over by Lady Lake police officers at 9:16 p.m. Saturday near the intersection of U.S. Hwy. 441 and Main Street in The Villages. Officers initiated the traffic stop after clocking Benz traveling 60 mph in a 45 mph zone.
While Benz’s brightly colored pink suit immediately caught the attention of officers, his driving record proved even more glaring. A background check revealed that his driver’s license had been suspended indefinitely for failure to pay traffic fines. Furthermore, he already had eight prior guilty pleas on his record for driving without a valid license.
In addition to his suspended status, police discovered that the trike Benz was operating was completely unregistered.
Benz was taken into custody without incident and cited for driving while his license was suspended and operating an unregistered vehicle.
