Villager Daryl Klinko was surprised to spot a spectacularly tall stalk growing in his front yard.
Klinko, who moved here from Michigan, could not believe his eyes when he saw the massive shoot coming up from his Century Plant at his home in the Village of Hemingway.

The Century Plant, also known as the Agave americana, is a massive succulent that spends 10 to 30 years growing in Florida landscapes before sending up a spectacular, tree-sized bloom stalk — up to 15 to 30 feet tall — covered in yellow flowers.
This final “death bloom” takes immense energy, meaning the plant will die afterward, though it leaves behind seeds and base “pups” to continue its life cycle.
Klinko said Villagers are welcome to drive by and take a look at 2696 Beckett Run.
