To the Editor:
A letter published June 21 titled “How much longer will we tolerate war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu’s genocide?”, authored by Suzie Quintana, criticized Netanyahu for genocide against the Lebanese and Palestinian people and for not honoring the peace agreement. This criticism is wrong on multiple levels.
I don’t believe that Ms. Quintana even knows what genocide is. Certainly, Israel is not committing genocide within Israel against Palestinians. The population of Arabs and Palestinians in Israel has actually increased over time! They all want to be there because of the opportunity in Israel.
Regarding possible genocide outside of Israel, they go to extreme measures to avoid killing civilians. They are “head and shoulders” above any other country avoiding collateral damage in war. They drop leaflets and make phone calls so civilians can get out of harm’s way. Their concern for others is unprecedented! The Israeli IDF spends all their efforts defending against the brutal attacks from their Islamic enemies. Although Israel has made preemptive attacks to minimize offensive attack damage coming their way, they never have been the aggressor. They were attacked on the very day they became a nation. They were also attacked on their holiest religious day. Their conquering of land was only during defensive wars.
Regarding Israel’s continued attacks on Lebanon, they are not unprovoked attacks. Hezbollah in Lebanon continues to attack Israel on behalf of Iran. Hezbollah is a proxy of Iran. Iran has them pushing an offensive war against Israel. It was hard to believe that Trump agreed to allow Iran to classify Israel’s counterattacks against the Hezbollah aggressor as aggression against Hezbollah and violating the Iran peace treaty. America, including Trump, has tied Israel’s hands many times, just when they were about to finish off their attackers that openly state they want to completely destroy Israel from the river to the sea.
In spite of all the good things Trump has done since taking office again, his Middle East conflict solutions do not view the conflict as “good” vs. “evil” even though that is what it is! Consequently, none of his solutions will work long term!
I don’t understand how anyone can fail to see that Hamas and the like-minded Palestinians that voted them into office are the “bad” guys. For those who want to give the Palestinians a pass, remember that they were an integral part of the Oct. 7, 2023, inhumane massacre of Israeli civilians.
Linked below is a previous letter that makes it completely clear who are the “good” guys and the “bad” guys in the Middle East conflict. https://www.villages-news.com/2024/06/22/clearly-the-israelis-are-the-good-guys-in-gaza-conflict/
