A resident of The Villages found herself in a revealing situation after a traffic stop led to the discovery of a suspicious bulge in her underwear.

Elizabeth Ann Anklam, 31, of the Village of Silver Lake, was arrested Tuesday afternoon by Fruitland Park police following a traffic stop near the intersection of North Dixie Avenue and Shiloh Street.

The trouble began when an officer spotted an SUV stopped in traffic and noticed the front-seat passenger—later identified as Anklam—wasn’t wearing a seatbelt. During the ensuing stop, the officer reported the distinct odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. When the driver denied consent for a search, the officer deployed a K9, which quickly alerted to the presence of narcotics.

A search of the vehicle yielded a marijuana “roach,” but the real surprise came when officers conducted a search of Anklam’s person. According to the arrest affidavit, a female officer noticed an object in the front of Anklam’s pants that was “not anatomically correct.” Upon further investigation, the officer retrieved a small plastic baggie containing a crystallized substance hidden in Anklam’s underwear.

The substance later tested positive for methamphetamine.

Anklam, who was arrested earlier this year in connection with a case involving recovered golf carts and tools, was taken into custody on a felony charge of possession of methamphetamine. She was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting $2,500 bond.
