An unlicensed driver from Honduras was arrested Tuesday morning after a traffic stop in Center Hill.
Elbin Isaias Castillo-Perez, 38, of Orlando, was driving a silver Toyota Tacoma at about 7:10 a.m. when a Sumter County Sheriff’s Office deputy spotted the truck traveling west through the intersection of East Kings Highway and West Kings Highway.

A routine check of the vehicle’s license plate revealed that the registered owner did not possess a valid Florida driver’s license. Noting that the man behind the wheel matched the physical description of the registered owner, the deputy initiated a traffic stop on County Road 48 near County Road 567.
During the traffic stop, the driver presented a Honduras passport for identification. Castillo-Perez admitted to the deputy that he had never possessed a driver’s license anywhere in the United States, according to the arrest report.
Castillo-Perez was issued a criminal citation for operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license. He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $500 bond.
