Valerie Warner Smith of The Village of Bridgeport at Lake Sumter passed away at Cornerstone Hospice on June 9, 2026, just five weeks after being diagnosed with lung cancer.

Born on April 25, 1941, in Torrington, Connecticut, and raised in Litchfield, Valerie lived a life defined by love, faith, service, and unwavering devotion to family. A gifted athlete in her youth, she attended Dana Hall School in Massachusetts, where she received the prestigious Sportsmanship Cup, and later studied at Wheelock College in Boston.

Valerie was the loving mother of four daughters: Lisa Walker (Mike LaFlamme), Dana Walker, Sally Rhee (Brian), and Hope Theobald (Steven). At every opportunity, she supported and indulged her seven grandchildren: Andrew (Samantha Jameson), Seth, Parker, Emily, Grace (Austin Cooper), Juliana, and Scotty.

Throughout her life, Valerie embraced service. She volunteered with the Junior League, Catholic Charities, Girl Scouts, Hospice, Ye Olde Thrift Shoppe, and faithfully served in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was known for her generosity, joyful spirit, and ability to make everyone feel loved.

Valerie shared many happy years with her beloved husbands, Zora Kamman and later John Smith. She loved to play mahjong with her dear friends.

She is survived by her exceptionally loving brother Bill Warner (Laurie) of The Village of Winifred. She was preceded in death by her parents, Norton and Marjorie Warner, her brother, Chuck, and her husbands, Zora Kamman and John Smith.

All are welcome to join in celebrating Valerie’s life at 1:00 p.m. on July 31, 2026, at the Eisenhower Recreation Center, 3560 Buena Vista Blvd., The Villages, Florida.
