The home of a deceased couple in The Villages was the subject of a deed compliance hearing.

Community Standards received a complaint on April 27 about the estate of Harold and Patricia Wilson on Southeast Humphreys Loop in the Village of Woodbury, according to testimony staff presented at the hearing on Monday at the Brownwood District Office.

Weeds Wilson
Weeds on the property of deceased Villagers were the subject of a deed compliance hearing.

The complaint regarded weeds, overgrown grass and tall trees, although only the weeds were verified, and tall trees are not a deed violation. Staff could not get in contact with the deceased homeowners and instead spoke to their daughter, who serves as a trustee.

On July 8, she indicated landscapers were on the property. She agreed to contact the staff when they were done, but they received no follow-up. Another inspection on July 16 determined the property was still out of compliance.

If the weeds are not removed within seven days of the hearing, the District will be authorized to maintain the property. The District will impose a fine of $250 each time it maintains the property.
